Krepkuri Nduga, MediaHabema – One of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, the Task Forces of the Para Raider Infantry Battalion 503/Mayangkara Kostrad, is currently conducting mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in Nduga Regency, Papua Pegunungan Province. On Tuesday, 27 August 2024, the 503 Task Forces, especially the Batas Batu Post led by First Lieutenant Galih Widiharyo, secured the Mumugu Village, Krepkuri District, through a Security Patrol. During the activity, the Patrol Team received a report from Mumugu residents that one of the Papuan mothers, Mama Berto Menjeh, had Malaria at her home.
Fortunately, the Patrol Team had a dedicated medical personnel member, Sergeant Chief Class Waris, who was also part of the Patrol Team. Responding to the residents' report, Sergeant Waris didn't just provide medical aid; he checked Mama Berto's health and handed her free medicines for the next few days to restore her health.
The actions of the Patrol Team in Mumugu Village have followed up on the emphasis of the Commander of 503 Task Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Gurbasa Samosir, regarding the importance of the Task Forces’ attention to the community's basic needs in the assigned area. Thus, the implementation of the task of securing the Papua region is not carried out as a mere routine. However, there is still concern from the Soldiers about the difficulties in the surrounding community. Furthermore, after the treatment, Mama Berto expressed her gratitude by saying, "Thank you, Commander 503. I am happy that the TNI is helping the people".
After receiving the activity report, the HABEMA Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, acknowledged the 503 Task Forces’ initiative to provide medical treatment to a resident in Mumugu Village. His words: "The 503 Task Forces' initiative is a testament to TNI's commitment to provide basic services for the community, especially health, to support the acceleration of development in the Papua region." This acknowledgment from the highest authority in HABEMA underscores the importance of such initiatives and their impact on the region's development.
